FAQ

Q: What is Ethos FR?

A: Ethos FR is a product that is added to fuels to make engines burn fuel more completely. Ethos FR is non-toxic, non-hazardous and works with any fuel used in cars, trucks, buses, ships, trains and generators. Ethos FR is free of carcinogens and is not derived from petroleum. It utilizes cleaning and lubricating esters suspended in a mineral oil base. Ethos FR increases fuel economy and reduces emissions. Commercial fleets on average increase fuel mileage between 7% and 19% and reduce emissions by more than 30%. When added to fuel, Ethos FR reduces the emissions of hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), particulate matter (PM) and other harmful products of combustion.

Q: How does Ethos FR work?

A: Ethos FR reformulates any fuel, causing two important benefits. The first benefit is the added lubricity to the engine. The second is adding cleansing properties to the fuel. All of the internal components benefit from the cleansing and lubricating action including the fuel lines, filters, carburetors, spark plugs and injectors. Ethos FR also conditions the engine seals, keeping them tighter longer. A cleaner, more lubricated engine runs smoother, requires less maintenance and reduces engine heat significantly. Horsepower returns closer to the manufacturer’s specifications. Ethos FR removes carbon deposits that cause fuel to combust incompletely, resulting in wasted fuel that creates toxic emissions. The combination of cleaning and lubricating esters in Ethos FR stabilize the fuel without changing its specifications.

Q: What is an Ester?

A: An ester is a group of liquid or solid compounds formed by the reaction of an acid and an alcohol with the elimination of water. There are organic and synthetic esters. For example most natural oils, fats and waxes are esters. More common esters are beer, soap and polyester used in clothing. Ethos FR contains non-toxic, non-hazardous synthetic esters.
In Ethos FR a group of low molecular weight esters clean the dirty deposits formed by fuels and the combustion process. These deposits lower performance of an engine making it less fuel-efficient. Causing it to exhaust raw fuel, which is the primary contributor to pollution. A group of high molecular weight esters lubricate the engine surfaces as the fuel runs through it. Their molecular structure is small enough to penetrate the metal and form a lubricating layer between surfaces. This process allows the moving components of an engine to operate smoother and with less power-robbing friction and heat.

Q: Is Ethos FR an Additive?

A: EPA registered additives are derived from petroleum. Ethos FR is a reformulator, even though you “add it” to the fuel. Ethos is non-toxic and non-hazardous. Ethos FR cleans and lubricates the internal parts of the engine without the use of petroleum derived products commonly found in fuel additives. Allowing the engine to burn fuel more efficiently thereby, reducing emissions.

Q: Mileage Decreased I used the product correctly, and my mileage actually dropped, why?

A: This could be due to a couple of factors:
Make sure you have an accurate baseline of your current gas mileage before using the product. If you do not know what you had before, it will be difficult to determine what the difference is.
It may take a few tanks of gas to clean out your engine and make it run more efficiently, in extreme cases, some may actually see a drop in gas mileage until the engine has been cleaned thoroughly.
If it is a new vehicle, or extremely well maintained, it may already be performing to its maximum potential.
If you are using the mileage computer on a newer vehicle, it must be re-calibrated before you get an accurate reading. You may get better results figuring your mileage manually.
You may need tohave your fuel filter changed as it may have become clogged during the cleaning process.
ETHOS always' works, and the only difference is the time it takes from one engine to another.

Q: Mileage stayed the same I used the product according to the directions, why didn’t I see an increase in my gas mileage?

Q: I have a car that runs on natural gas, can I use Ethos in it?

A: Ethos works well with Natural Gas. The first thing to do is put 1 ounce per quart in the crank case with the oil. Then our Ethos can be added to the fueling station at the same place where they put in the LNG ,as it arrives from the supplier at 250 PSI, and the fueling station must increase the PSI to 3500 or more before putting in any vehicle. Check with the owner, and you will find the port for introducing Ethos.

Q: I use E85 in my car, can I use Ethos in it?

A: Yes! Ethos works great with E85. Ethos lubricates moving components thus reducing the friction and corrosion of metal and rubber parts in vehicles that use Ethanol. Learn more about how Ethos works here.

Q: What about Ethos and My New Car Warranty?

A: Adding Ethos FR to your fuel tank and crankcase will not void the manufacturers warranty on new vehicles and here's why:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must approve and registers all fuel additives before they can legally be sold in the United States.

EPA approval involves verifying that the additive will not harm a vehicle's fuel system or increase the amount of pollution its engine emits or it is not registered and approved.

Ethos FR is registered and approved by the EPA to sell in the United States.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312

This is federally mandated act. It provides that unless specifically waived in writing by the Federal Trade Commission, it specifically prohibits any manufacturer from making its vehicle warranty conditional on the use of any brand of fuel, fuel additive, fluid, lubricant or filter unless the manufacturer provides the fuel, fuel additive, fluid, lubricant or filter free of charge for the duration of the affected warranty.

Since in most instances the Federally mandated "Emission Warranty" is of longer duration than the OEM's "Basic Coverage" or the "Extra Drivetrain Warranty" it means that from 0 to 100,000 miles or for full 10 years manufacturer would have to supply the item free if he would specifically require the use of specific brand.

So if you are ever told that only the original equipment fuel, fuel additive, fluid, lubricant or filter offered by the dealer or mechanic must be used or the warranty will be void, then demand that the service performed and the OEM fuel, fluid, lubricant or filter is FREE of charge. If you are charged for the fuel, fluid, lubricant or filter the manufacturer is violating Federal law.

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

If they can prove the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure, then the warranty repair on the failed part does not have to be provided.  The warranty is still valid on all other covered parts and can not be voided per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

It would seem very difficult for a manufacturer to prove that Ethos FR caused damage to the fuel system since the EPA has already tested and proved that Ethos FR will not damage the fuel system.

So any mis-informed news reports, discussions, Blogs, or any other means of communication stating that using Ethos FR or any other EPA approved fuel additive will void the manufactures new vehicle warranty is completely without merit and not supported by federal law, the EPA and the Federal Trade Commission.

If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or
www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov.
